In late June 2019, the Detroit Handbell Ensemble hit the road for Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to perform a feature concert at the Area 2 Festival Conference and Young Ringer Festival. We were very excited to be invited to this event and to perform for friends and colleagues in the handbell community.
The concert was well received with audience members singing along to our signature Motown Medley. On our way home, we performed in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, where we were hosted by DHE ringer Lynette Hoelter's family. It was a wonderful and exciting trip all around, full of fellowship and great music.
Area 2 is a regional subset of Handbell Musicians of America, a national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the musical art and excellence of handbells. Area 2 serves handbell musicians and educators in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario. Detroit Handbell Ensemble is a proud member of Area 5, which serves Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.
