All of us at Detroit Handbell Ensemble would like to wish you and yours a very merry holiday season!

Thank you to everyone who supported us at our 2024 concerts and events. It was a very busy season which included five concerts, three local events, and two television appearances! Whew!

America’s Thanksgiving Parade

We were thrilled to be invited to perform in America’s Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Detroit. Six DHE ringers braved the chilly (but thankfully dry) weather to play Carol of the Bells live on TV, right on Woodward Avenue. You can see their performance here. It was very exciting!

As an encore to the parade, Channel 4 producers invited DHE to their studio for an appearance on Live in the D. We had a great time navigating the art of being on television. You can watch our portion of the show here which includes an interview with DHE artistic director Kyle Webber and a performance of The First Noel. We also have photos from our studio visit on our Facebook page.

Many thanks to all the folks at Channel 4 WDIV for the invitation and videos.

Spreading the Holiday Spirit in Metro Detroit

DHE participated in Ring in the Season at the Royal Park Hotel, the holiday kickoff event for The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division Red Kettle Campaign (pictured above). DHE ringers officially welcomed the holiday giving season in the hotel's gorgeous and festive lobby.

A small group of DHE ringers also participated in the City of Wyandotte's Tree Lighting Ceremony as one of several on-stage performances. It was a lovely evening of colorful lights and Christmas carols.

Visit our Facebook page for additional photos and video of our Salvation Army and City of Wyandotte appearances. A big thank you to both organizations for inviting us!

Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with all of our concerts and events.

2024 Holiday Concert: The Stars Are Brightly Shining

DHE presented four performances across metro Detroit this season in Livonia, Northville, Walled Lake, and Dearborn  plus a concert at Silver Maples, a senior community in Chelsea, MI. Audiences were treated to a musical exploration of the heavens and poetry by Megan Porath.

Please enjoy these videos of Rewrite the Stars and O Holy Night, and visit our YouTube channel to see additional videos from our holiday concert. Remember that we all have a glorious light within us, shining brightly.

Happy Holidays from DHE!

Looking Ahead

We will hit the ground running on our spring program in January. Full details are coming soon, but you can add these dates to your calendar and prepare to join us on a voyage:

  • April 29 in Westland
  • May 2 in Midland
  • May 4 in Detroit
  • May 6 in Farmington Hills

We have big plans for 2025 and beyond, and we will need your continued support to bring those plans to fruition. Share our concerts with your friends, family, and coworkers, and please consider making a tax-deductible donation to DHE. We have a wish list of instruments, workshops, and events, and we can’t do it all without your help. Contributions help us continue to make music in and around the Motor City. Thank you!
